About Us
Ethnic Eight is the Northeast Society of Jesus and Mary College, Delhi University, and is one of the compulsory societies. It is an active society which is led by our respected convener, Dr Gurmeet Bakshi, Faculty advisor Dr. Bipasha Rosy Lakra, Dr. Sabiha Mazid and Prof. Phuireingam Hongchu. Ethnic Eight society aims at promoting the socio-cultural diversity of northeast India and its population so as to integrate and include them with the rest of India/Indians and amongst the JMC students. The society members are from the Northeastern States, Districts of Darjeeling and Kalimpong, Ladakh and Nepal.
LAIZOM
The Annual Magazine of the Ethnic Eight Society
‘Laizom’ encapsulates the concept of “brotherhood” in the Zomi language spoken in parts of North East India. With this meaning in mind, the team of Laizom hopes to reveal the many faces of the North East through stories that are digestible for people from all walks of life and, in the process, inspire them.Our website will feature Laizom, the editorial team, and the magazine under Ethnic Eight, sharing captivating stories and information about northeast India.
